This is a simple tip, but definitely worth mentioning. Typing shutdown -r now in a terminal will restart a Linux system. There are a couple other simple ways to do this including
rebootand/sbin/init 6. The latter assuming you have init 6 setup to reboot.Thanks for the additions Jim!
